Take a trip into the future—at the new Innovation Hub, this wish becomes a reality, so to speak. Spanning over 500 square meters, the electrical engineering group Schneider Electric and its subsidiary Feller AG have built a showroom in Horgen that offers exciting insights into the energy technologies of tomorrow. On a tour, visitors pass interactive stations on topics such as connected homes, smart building automation, e-mobility, and Industry 4.0.
As a long-standing partner of Feller AG, Zumtobel was tasked with helping to shape the ambiance of the Innovation Hub through appropriate lighting. “Light is a key factor in the overall impression,” says Marketing Director Cello Duff, explaining his commitment to varied lighting. A combination of harmonious general lighting and accent lighting showcases the exhibits without competing for visitors’ attention. Large-scale ONDARIA luminaires, slender LINETIK and PANOS pendant luminaires are complemented by minimalist yet powerful spotlights. Like the Innovation Hub itself, the lighting solution combines modern technology with design and emotional appeal. To create a special dramatic effect, the lighting management system controls the fixtures via motion sensors: Upon entering a zone, the visitor activates the light, which guides them through the exhibition. The interplay between light and dark heightens anticipation and thus builds suspense.
Sustainable Lighting Solution: Flexible, Efficient, and Future-Proof at the Innovation Hub
The Innovation Hub is designed not only to inform and entertain, but also to raise awareness of new possibilities for energy use. “It was very important to me that we showcase sustainable solutions in the Innovation Hub and also integrate a sustainable lighting solution,” emphasizes Marketing Director Cello Duff.
The lighting experts at Zumtobel met this requirement with energy-efficient luminaires, intelligent sensor technology, and a well-thought-out mounting system designed for the long term. TECTON tracks form a tight grid, allowing their light modules to be rearranged throughout the entire space in just a few simple steps. This ensures the lighting is perfectly prepared for new or changing tasks.
“The Innovation Hub has been very well received by visitors,” says Marketing Director Duff with satisfaction. “And the combination of technology and emotion, as well as the experiential presentation of complex solutions, surprises and delights,” he adds.
The marketing manager also views the collaboration with Zumtobel positively: “Openness, innovation, and reliability are three key factors we experienced in our collaboration on this project: Zumtobel was always open to our sustainability requirements. The team provided us with innovative solutions that combine state-of-the-art lighting technology with good design. Furthermore, Zumtobel consistently proved to be a reliable partner during planning, implementation, and commissioning.”
