Converting existing lights to LED

If the existing lighting is of high quality and in good condition, converting to LED or replacing the luminaire on a one-to-one basis can be a sensible, resource-efficient solution. Zumtobel offers professional conversion kits for many product ranges.
Refurbishment kits, which are currently manufactured to order, are progressively being incorporated into the standard range and can then also be ordered directly from the online catalogue.
When carrying out the conversion, it is essential to observe the legal requirements regarding technical safety, product liability and copyright. You will find details on this in the ‘Good to know’ section following the description of the retrofit kits.

DALI recommendations

To get the most out of your lighting refurbishment, we recommend prioritising DALI-dimmable modules and luminaires.
DALI-dimmable luminaires
  • pave the way for optimum energy efficiency
  • are a prerequisite for most funding schemes
  • ensure the flexibility of the lighting solution on site, for example to adjust the light level precisely to requirements or to respond to changing visual tasks

Good to know

  • Zumtobel supplies only light modules that have their own rating plate and are CE-marked. They therefore have the same status as a new luminaire.
  • The LED light inserts do not alter the CE status of the existing luminaire, as a CE module is being installed in a CE-certified luminaire.
  • You will receive a warranty on the supplied light insert.
  • Conversion and functional testing are carried out by an electrician on site.
  • Please note the guidelines (in german) issued by the FVB (Professional Association of the Lighting Industry).

Refurbishment with an LED conversion kit

The energy-efficient LED upgrade for the L-shaped custom luminaires was carried out using bespoke LED conversion kits. Pre-assembled kits, CE marking, installation instructions and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) are included.

Refurbishment with one-for-one replacement

Following a comprehensive lighting refurbishment, all areas are now bathed in a new light. Through reuse, upcycling and one-to-one replacement, large parts of the existing conventional lighting system were reused and repurposed for the new LED lighting.
