Award-winning design: Zumtobel’s TECTON II, design by Pininfarina, wins two design awards

Modular continuous-row lighting system impresses with functionality, sustainability and timeless minimalist elegance at both the iF Design Award 2026 and the Good Design Award 2025

The modular continuous-row lighting system TECTON II by Zumtobel has won two prestigious international awards: the iF Design Award 2026 and the Good Design Award 2025. Developed in close collaboration with the Italian design studio Pininfarina, the system was recognized for its functionality, sustainability and a timeless minimalist design language. With more than 10,000 entries from all around the world, the iF Design Award is one of the world’s most sought-after design competitions. Since 1954, the iF label has marked outstanding design achievements. The Good Design Award also dates back to the 1950s. First presented in Chicago in 1950, it has honoured the achievements of leading industrial and graphic designers as well as international manufacturers for their pursuit of outstanding design quality.
Pininfarina’s design philosophy together with Zumtobel’s technical mastery gave way to the distinctive and clear design language of TECTON II. A fusion of technology, functionality and aesthetics, allows the continuous-row lighting system to adapt flexibly to a wide range of architectural and functional requirements. Its modular structure with 15-poles enables the integration of a wide range of functions – from general and emergency lighting to sensor technology and IoT applications – opening up new possibilities and, above all, giving even more creative freedom than the previous model.

The international juries of the iF Design Award and the Good Design Award recognised not only the clear functionality and user-friendly design, but also the sustainability of the continuous-row lighting system. TECTON II is modular and features a special locking mechanism for fast installation. Tool-free, intuitive installation saves valuable time – on average up to 71 per cent compared to similar products. Through Zumtobel’s remanufacturing service, the system can be fully refurbished after its initial product life cycle and reused with a new factory.
High efficiency of up to 211 lm/W, a long service life and tool-free plug-and-play installation complete the package. Zumtobel’s strict Circular Design Rules (CDRs) were applied during the development of TECTON II to ensure future recyclability. The use of recycled materials and resource-efficient manufacturing processes further underlines the high sustainability standards. Backward compatibility with existing TECTON installations enables customers to modernise their systems in a cost-effective and sustainable manner.
